How To Get Rid Of Butt Acne

Acne is no fun no matter where it forms on your body.  And unfortunately your body, especially your butt, isn’t immune to those troublesome breakouts!  Oftentimes, Folliculitis can also be confused with body acne or butt acne in this case. I am going to give you 5 helpful things you can do to get rid of butt acne quickly.

Butt acne is a little bit different from facial acne, both in what causes it and how it’s treated.  So here are 5 tips on how to get rid of butt acne and Folliculitis.

1. Wash & Exfoliate Your Bum Regularly

One of the best and simplest ways to get rid of butt acne is to wash and exfoliate regularly with a high quality antibacterial cleanser. If you know you are prone to acne on your butt and/or body, I would suggest cleansing 2 X a day, once in the morning and once in the evening.  This will help to reduce breakouts by clearing away dirt and bacteria buildup from sweat.

iS Clinical Cleansing Complex Polish

Facereality Antioxidant Scrub

Facereality Ultra Gentle Cleanser

2. Treat Your Skin

After cleansing, it will be important to follow through with treating the affected area.  Exfoliating ingredients are important to help get rid of dead skin cells and dirt that could contribute to clogged follicles and lead to infections.  Here are some great treatments to  consider:

3. Hydrate Your Skin

You should absolutely moisturize your skin even if you have active acne!  It is a total myth that applying moisturizer will worsen your acne.  In fact, moisturizers are necessary to keep acne-prone skin as relaxed and calm as possible!  Plus, if you are using cleansers to help fight acne, which penetrates deep into your skin for the best results, they can also cause dryness, so moisturizing is key to help you fight acne without losing your glow.  When your skin dries out, your body starts producing more oil as a reaction, which can clog up your pores even more and lead to more acne. Moisturizing will definitely help with that!
Here are some products to consider:

iS Clinical Youth Body Serum (200 ml.)

iS Clinical Copper Firming Mist (2.5 fl. oz.)

iS Clinical Hydra-Cool Serum (1 fl. oz.)

Facereality Hydrabalance

4. Wear Loose Fitting Clothing

Most times, bacteria sits on the surface of the skin, but tight-fitting clothing can rub the bacteria back down into the pores where it gets “re-absorbed” causing breakouts!  Because of this, lets consider taking a break from spandex, legging, and skinny jeans in favor of looser and more “breathable” bottoms.  Leaving the sweat and dirt on your skin after a workout can also be a huge contributor to butt acne/ body acne, and KP!  Make sure you hop in the shower as soon as possible after a sweaty workout.  If you’re wearing tight workout pants, showering is especially important.  If you can’t get to a shower right away, Consider this product:

5. Lastly, Avoid Fabric Softeners

Some people’s skin can be sensitive to different fabrics or laundry products. That’s why most brands of laundry detergent have a “Free & Clear” hypoallergenic version.  If you suspect that a detergent, fabric softener, or type of dryer sheet may be causing you issues, try switching to something without dyes or skipping certain products altogether!  I especially recommend avoid using fabric softeners and dryer sheets  because the fibers and residue left on your clothes can further irritate your skin.

I hope you enjoyed these helpful skin tips! If you are someone who struggles with this issue, then try incorporating these tips into your daily routine!
