6 Pro Tips to Get Rid of Chest Acne
As annoying as it can be, acne is a skin condition that nearly everyone deals with at some point in their lives! It’s caused by the accumulation of dead skin cells that essentially block your pores and leads to an abundance of bacteria. As a result, your skin becomes inflamed and causes whiteheads, blackheads, pustules or larger cystic pimples to form.
Unfortunately, acne has no boundaries and does not discriminate! While It’s more common for teenagers, it can affect people of all ages, and equally between men and women. Acne also can appear anywhere you have oil glands in your skin, so it can occur on your face, chest, back or stomach.
Though chest acne isn’t always as visible as pimples on your face, it can be quite a nuisance. Here are six ways you can fight chest acne before pimples develop or help clear a breakout after pimples have formed!
1. Shower Regularly & Use an Acne-Fighting Body Wash for Chest Acne
If you find your chest is breaking out pretty regularly then you must start showering daily! Regular showers help remove body oil, dirt, sweat, dead skin and bacteria that block your pores. Make sure to use lukewarm (not hot!) water for the best results. Also, the body wash you use will be important. Those that contain antibacterial ingredients are especially helpful for chest acne. 2. Don’t Forget to Exfoliate
Our skin goes through a natural cell-turnover process, where dead skin cells emerge to the surface as new skin cells are made. However, sometimes our dead skin cells don’t always shed on their own very well, so we end up with a buildup of dead skin that can end up staying in your pores and clogging them, leading to acne! This is where exfoliating can help. Exfoliation helps to remove the dead skin buildup to reveal noticeably smoother skin. That being said, you need to use a gentle exfoliator to not irritate the skin further! This is especially important for chest acne because inn general the skin our chest can be more sensitive that other parts of the body. Check out these exfoliating products:
3. Hydrate & Moisturize Your Chest Acne
YES, you still need to hydrate and moisturizer your acne-prone skin! Hydrators, as well as hydrating ingredients help to calm inflammation, reduce redness, and help hydrate your skin and heal you acne, all without causing acne. Again, try using products with anti-bacterial and anti-fungal ingredients to get rid of preexisting breakouts. You will also want to avoid fragrances that can irritate your skin.

5. Switch to a Free & Clear Laundry Detergent
Washing your clothes is an absolute must for keeping germs at bay, but if you have oily breakout-prone skin, it can also help prevent acne! You may not know though that laundry detergent can sometimes have the opposite effect because of certain ingredients that tend to irritate the skin. These include detergents (and fabric softeners/ dryer sheets) with fragrances and dyes. When you wear your clothes that have been washed with allergenic detergents, you could put your chest area and other parts of your body at risk for a breakout. Look for laundry detergents labeled as “hypoallergenic” and “Free & Clear.”
6. Wear Loose-Fitting Clothing for Chest Acne
Another key to keeping chest acne at bay is to wear clothing that is loose and airy so that your skin can breathe and stay dry. Wearing tight clothing too often can trap dirt, oil, and bacteria, which can lead to breakouts. Also, certain fabrics such as wool, nylon, and spandex, can cause further irritation. Sometimes just plain cotton clothing is best!If chest acne is something that you are dealing with then try these tips and tricks but remember to be patient! Products can take a good 4 to 5 weeks to take full effect, so patience and consistency is key.
