5 Ways to Boost Your Skincare Routine
Hi there, and welcome back for another blog all about skin caring! Have you ever been curious how you could make the most of you skincare routine? Often times people are pretty surprised when I tell them I’m about to hit my 30’s. And although I’m sure we can all improve certain areas of our life, one thing that I have always been consistent about is my morning and evening skincare routines! Ive said it once and ill say it till I die—it’s never too early or too late to start caring for your skin!
Here are my top 5 ways to boost your skincare routine that you can start today.
1. Make your morning and evening skincare routine a ritual
This is my “me-time” that I have at the beginning and end of each day. Take your time, and slow down, and purposely go through the motions of cleansing your skin, using light pressure and circular movements. Proper cleansing after all is the first step to ensure the rest of your products penetrate and perform their functions.
2. Make skin recovery a priority
Skin health is heavily impacted by two things: sleep and exercise. Everyday, your skin works hard to protect itself from the elements, therefore you need to help your skin recover and rejuvenate overnight while you sleep. During these precious hours of sleep your blood flow increases helping to restore and rejuvenate your skin. How cool is that! So make sure to get your 7-8 hours of rest.
3. Stay hydrated
This means on the inside as well as the outside! Staying hydrated is one of the best things you can do for your body and your skin. Drinking more water can help your skin stay supple and keep the body operating smoothly. Maybe try a green juice instead of that next cup of coffee or energy drink. Hydration also means moisturizing! (Yes, even your oily skin.)
4. Ice your face!
In a world of wacky wellness-related tips and tricks, this is a back to the basics method to reduce swelling, inflammation and puffiness. You can use ice cubes and do circular motions all over the face for up to 2 minutes OR you can use stainless steel facial globes that have been in the freezer or fridge so their nice and cold.
5. Get professional treatments
Sometimes we run into issues that we cannot address at home and we need to turn to the experts for professional treatments. Facial treatments such as peels, microdermabrasions, microneedling, and dermaplaning can yield dramatic results – especially when incorporated with your regular skincare routine! It’s important to work with an aesthetician that you trust and that will take the time to understand your unique skincare concerns.
These simple self care practices will help us live more mindfully and give us radiant, glowing skin. Try incorporating these into your daily habits and see the beautiful skin that awaits!
